Why Young Ugandans Should Marry Early: Justice Minister Norbert Advocates for Youth Marriage and Affordable Mortgages

George Williams 2 years ago

Justice Minister Norbert has urged Ugandans to consider marrying at a younger age, emphasizing that early marriage could bring significant benefits to both individuals and the economy. He also proposed that the government should support young couples by offering them cheaper mortgages to help them settle into family life more comfortably.

According to Minister Norbert, encouraging young couples to take out affordable home loans would not only benefit them but also boost the banking sector. He explained, “When young couples secure jobs, instead of spending money on rent, they should be given access to mortgages with lower interest rates. This will empower them to build their futures while increasing the number of clients for banks, as more young people will seek loans.”

This call comes amid ongoing discussions about unemployment in Uganda. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently addressed the issue, criticizing opposition members for claiming that the government has failed to provide jobs for all Ugandans. The President clarified that while the government cannot employ every citizen, it is committed to creating a supportive environment for employment opportunities.

President Museveni encouraged Ugandan youths to take advantage of government initiatives designed to foster self-reliance and entrepreneurship. He reiterated that the government’s role is to provide a conducive environment for growth, urging young people to actively participate in these programs to secure their futures.

By combining early marriage with financial support, Justice Minister Norbert believes Uganda can foster stronger family units and a more robust economy, while President Museveni’s focus on youth empowerment aims to address the nation’s unemployment challenges. Together, these initiatives highlight the government’s efforts to create a brighter future for Uganda’s younger generation.
